Giz' an interesting job
Ninehigh - 10/3/10 at 04:14 PM

I'll keep the rant mode turned down (and this helped) but I'm after another job, and I've no idea what to search for. What interesting jobs do you guys have that I could look for. Wage isn't important as it's limited by law, and hours aren't too important but I do need full time.

blakep82 - 10/3/10 at 04:17 PM

if i knew the answer to that...

boggle - 10/3/10 at 04:19 PM

you can have my job.......

Ninehigh - 10/3/10 at 04:21 PM

Ok let's narrow it down a bit more. Something that pays and doesn't F me about, and isn't in security/care/catering/sales/driving (too many points on my licence until next year)

blakep82 - 10/3/10 at 04:22 PM

call centres? thats about all i seem to get
interview for one tomorrow...

I have two weeks left in my current position, thenm I finish to start a new job down south. I am currently Deputy Head of Composites for a major aerospace manufacturer. In a nutshell, I play with carbon all day! If you want it, it is being advertised very soon!

spidersaurus - 10/3/10 at 04:25 PM

professional student!!!

nick205 - 10/3/10 at 04:28 PM

What do you mean by wages being limited by law...?

Small world twybrow - have taken a break from designing a nice composite intake for a certain large UK aero engine manufacturer to type this !

twybrow - 10/3/10 at 04:39 PM

Homer - Say hello to the competetion for me then! I know quite a few folk who work up there (in the composites field). Scariest interviewers ever!

I'm into my fourth week of WWOOFing at the moment, I work for food and no wages XD

austin man - 10/3/10 at 06:27 PM

you should be happy you have job at this moment in time, you appear to be against working in the top 5 employment sectors so are pretty much limiting your choices and chances.

Why dont you get your head down in your current role show them what your worth and look to progress. All too many people blame the job for being crap when they are in a lot of the cases the person who is making the job less than pleasurable. I have had some really demeaning jobs but have got my head down kept quiet and learnt the role. In each of them I have progressed to management within the companies.

In some jobs like many people on here we did not have the security of national minimum wage, working 60 hours per week was natural just to receive a decent wage, 70 hours a week if you wanted to go on holiday etc.

Did we moan yes quietly but got on with it. Ask yourself the question what could you change in yourself or your expectation that may help you to enjoy the job. Trouble is today peoples expectations are way off what reality is. You have to have the give and take My guess is that age wise you are probably early 20's am I correct

Peteff - 10/3/10 at 06:30 PM

Is this you ?

I'm holding out for a job in a salon, bikini waxing
Page 3 girls only though, no mingers.

macc man - 10/3/10 at 07:59 PM

Have you thought about self employment, work your own hours and take on jobs you realy want. I have been at it for over 6 years and although business is slow at present it should pick up soon. You may have a skill you have yet to realise.

Ninehigh - 11/3/10 at 07:04 AM

Well for skills I can read and write which is more than half the jobs I've had have required. I have an A level somewhere too.

I'm currently working security, not much scope for being brilliant when all you do is sit there. Plus now they're having me working further away for less and I took a sizeable pay cut on the basis that I was working far closer.

I did the self employment thing (private hire driver) a few years ago, and that's why I'm in security now
I would do it again, when I have the money and some skill (doing light vehicle repair atm)

Oh and they don't have fluffers anymore now there's Viagra

morcus - 11/3/10 at 02:56 PM

Bounty hunter?

Wait a couple of months and there'll be loads of Gardening/Groundswork in the papers. Pay isn't likely to be good but you'll be doing something, and outside so the time should go by quicker.

Ninehigh - 11/3/10 at 03:40 PM

FFS they have qualifications is mowing effing lawns!
