My log burner is now in and so far we are still burning the pallet the fire came on.

Now need a supply of logs for the winter.

Anyone know anywhere I can get some locost within striking distance of Durham/Sunderland?

Steve

Hi Steve - you can get them in Masham - bring your truck!

i get mine from a few local tree surgeons. also there is a few local forests near me with alot of fallen down logs which i cut up and take.

I ask around too and find alot of pallets which are really good wood to burn.

Also if you have a haulage yard near you they have these 6x6 posts about 4 ft long which i found about 60 of they let me have.

I bought cheap smokeless coal from a local coal yard to get things warm. £7 per bag.

Hope these help you.

Pallets and posts from haulage places are my main source for heat.

hope you have a heat exchanger on the stove.

Our city council have a central log yard and up until this year you could take what you liked for free, now they charge £5 per trailer which is still great.
They are from huge trees mostly, and they are alll cut down to manageable chunks that just need log splitting and drying.
