Subject : Abstracting Electricity


*This is an Arrestable Offence



It is an offence for any person who dishonestly uses electricity without authority, or dishonestly causes it to be wasted or diverted is guilty of this offence.

Example 1.
A person who dishonestly diverts a domestic supply so as to bypass the meter.

Example 2.
An employee who dishonestly surfs the Internet without authorisation.

It's a fair cop guv!

dunno about example 2, but the law does treat the 'stealing' of electricity as a seperate offence.

thats because stealing is described as the action of permanently depriving someone of property.

As electricty isnt a tangeable qty you can walk away with, its defined as a seperate category of offence.

its more like unauthorised use rather than stealing as such.

about lekky - did anyone see the news item about a month ago, where ryanair banned employees from charging mobile phones at work cos it cost 0.5p a time 'and all mounts up'.

I'd dispute any complaint about "stealing" electricity.

PC is on anyway. Unless they'd like you to turn it off!!! Should cost them more in labour during startup.
