Puddles........
Jon Ison - 31/10/05 at 07:07 PM

Should he have been fined and had points ?

gazza285 - 31/10/05 at 07:08 PM

Fine the council for the puddle being there in the first place.

liam.mccaffrey - 31/10/05 at 07:13 PM

can't believe it, fined for driving in the rain

I must admit to not knowing the particulars. did he do it on purpose and drive off gufawing? or was it really a travesty

flak monkey - 31/10/05 at 07:14 PM

OK...what did I miss??

liam.mccaffrey - 31/10/05 at 07:17 PM

some guy was fined +3 for driving through a puddle and splashing workmen

serendipity123 - 31/10/05 at 07:19 PM

good show i do that when ever i can, i just love bus stops with chav kids stud at them.

flak monkey - 31/10/05 at 07:22 PM

It is actually illegal to do that IIRC. I got soaked a few times by inconsiderate b@stards when I was on my way to work in the summer on my bike. A lot of the time you see them coming, and see that they do it on purpose.

You can report people who do it if you get their plate. However not sure what the fines are etc.

Chavs deserve a soaking, but it doenst make it any less annoying when it happens to you.

David

JoelP - 31/10/05 at 07:24 PM

its criminal cos its ridiculously foolish to swerve towards someone in the rain!

serendipity123 - 31/10/05 at 07:25 PM

if its raining you dont need to swerve, u drive in the gutter ready to do it

steve_gus - 31/10/05 at 07:32 PM

if it was accidental, then thats harsh. If he did it on purpose, he deserved the 3 points. What a git.

this ties nicely up with the other thread - if you drove in the gutter to splash someone, but ran over some debris, blew out a tyre and ended up squishing rather than splashing them, would it be manslaughter or causing death by dangerous driving?

serendipity123 - 31/10/05 at 07:46 PM

and i suppose everyone on here never goes a mile over the speed limit, you could get a blow out lose control and run in the back of me driving with care so that i dont miss the cavs at the bus stop swerve around me losing the back end of your tin top and runing a whole bus shelter of them over, where as i was just splashing them with water you on the other hand was driving to fast.

JoelP - 31/10/05 at 07:48 PM

indeed. But there is personal gain in speeding, ie you get where you are going fast. Splashing people on purpose has no personal gain involved, except the obvious glee involved in soaking those unfortunate souls who left the car at home

serendipity123 - 31/10/05 at 07:50 PM

my point chavs. . . they dont get cars on the doll so they have to nick them or take the bus. . . i say we all speed and splash

steve_gus - 31/10/05 at 08:08 PM

why should anyone thats not got the money to have a car and be waiting for a bus be a chav?

So, as you drive down the road you can make an instant judgement as to wether the person you are about to cover in muddy water on a cold wet day deserves it.

you know if they work. you know if they are on the dole. You know if they work in a charity shop, or if they are a mugger.

amazing insight

How dumb do you have to be to lurk by a puddle when there's eejits in every other car??
They were clearly asking to be soaked....
Bob
(never executed a soaking myself but can see the attraction...)

omega 24 v6 - 31/10/05 at 08:20 PM

I'm surprised no one's brought up the "why does'nt he sue the council for not sorting out the roads so there are no puddles"

serendipity123 - 31/10/05 at 08:36 PM

not that i would ever use a bus, i would never stand at a bus stop with a puddle infront of it. . . . mind you i dont really care it give me something to do on my way to work

I agree sue the council, they take all the money they can off you so you have a right to get some back when something unfortunate() happens.
You would think they would fix the pudles near the bus stop, what kind of council do you people have?
As for the work men getting soaked, mabey they shouldn'd be stood at the side of the road when it's soaking wet Or if they have to do emergency repairs , close the road on safety grounds

Just my 2p worth

billy - 31/10/05 at 08:45 PM

Lol, yeh who catches buses then???? id be carefull what you say, cos there may be a real nasty chav that knows where you live

serendipity123 - 31/10/05 at 08:47 PM

i've just 5 of them at me door asking trick or treat.

Ben_Copeland - 31/10/05 at 10:02 PM

My Nissan Navara makes BIG splashes

Drowned a few people and cars

Hellfire - 31/10/05 at 10:37 PM

Made me laugh...

Coucil Men and Working in the same sentence... next you'll be telling me Harry Potter is a Real Wizard!

(Ducks for cover!)

Cita - 1/11/05 at 05:00 AM

What's wrong with you people?

Do you think it's funny when you have to work outside all day and some lunatic soaks your clothes in which you have to work for the rest of the day?

I've worked most of my live outside and I can assure you that there's nothing funny
about working in wet soacked cloths.
Perhaps you should try it for a while and see if you could take the insults throwing at you every day from passing drivers!

I would have given that idiot a nice Locost and let him drove around in wet clothes for a couple of hours on a cold wintersday!!!
That would change his idea about wet clothes being funny!!

Cheers Cita

The Guy was doing 15 mph, and didn't see 2 workmen in a ditch at the side of the road. Was going to stop and apologise, but as he was being "tailed" by a cop car, didn't have time before he was pulled over. Done totally unintentionally. Seems like one of the many symptoms of this pathetic country we live in. The priorities of the police seem all wrong to me.

NS Dev - 1/11/05 at 11:18 AM

EXACTLY!!!!!

WELL PUT!!!!!

What a load of old cobblers.

What utter shite, utter utter complete crap

I am bloody speechless.

Situation should go, man splashes workmen, workmen get angry, gesticulate rudely at man, man thinks sorry folks, continues on his way. At some point in the future life has a habit of coming rounf to meet you and no doubt he'll fall embarassingly into a puddle himself walking home from the pub the next week.

What is all this "sue him", sue them bollox.

For god's sake, do we all want to live in a sterilised clinic for ever. Just get on with flipping life.

The law is a frigging ass in my opinion, mainly due to personal experience with what I am told is the wrong side of it apparently.

As somebody put on another thread, it is for the guidance of the wise and the blind obedience of fools, never have truer words been spoken.

Bet the w**ker copper that stopped him really thought he'd done the country a service that day........twat.

Cita - 1/11/05 at 01:50 PM

I would say exactly the same in court "Jeez judge,I just wanted to apologize but the cops got me before doing so"
At 15 Mph that must have been a deap puddle to make a splash huge enough to reach two roadworkers.
As if the police would not see the difference if it's done on purpose or by accident.

Cheers Cita

Syd Bridge - 1/11/05 at 04:17 PM

From the way they close roads and put up all the unnecessary barriers and crap, just to fill a 6" pothole, I'd be asking how the car came to be so close?

Someone must not have been stupidly adhering to all the latest EC safety guidelines in maintaining safe distances for barriers.

Sue the workers!! For putting the driver in such a compromised situation!!

And you've got to wonder why the police were tailing him????

Cita - 1/11/05 at 05:06 PM

It's obvious that you are all fragile office birds
Never worked beside a road than hé,try it sometimes and be glad that you survive the first day because at least once a day some lunatic in a car try's to overrun you neglecting the signs and forgetting the fact that there are people working

Cheers Cita

davidwag - 1/11/05 at 09:26 PM

The chavs may get the last laugh when the bow wave you've just created by driving through a puddle, reflects off the edge of the pavement back into your engine bay, down your intake and speads the internals of your engine all over the road.

Yes i've seen it all to many times as a customers car arrives on the back of a recovery truck and explains that it was only a "little" puddle honest.

even better when you get out of your stranded car, and they all kick the fcuk out of you
