No problems, Tony now has a supply of cables to choose from, he's modding the pedal as we speak. Tony and Paul really enjoyed the blast back so we'll probably be seeing them next meeting also. Thanks again.

Hi Guys
It was tony's piece of crap soldering that caused the problem the cable pulled through his nipple - 00hh eerr!!!
Also Jon, I'd like to see that, an autobox on a piece of slanty eyed motorcyle engineering. They made our forfathers build a bridge over the river kwai you know!!!

I tried an auto box (ex Orion) mounted to a atmo cosworth, mounted transverse in rear of a autograss car, it made for very fast starts, sat with foot on brake and throttle, foot off brake and it shot off like a rocket (as long as i had'nt boiled the fluid) problem was when you lifted mid corner it was like putting you foot on the clutch for a split second and the car swapped ends before you could fart....so that was filed under B1n......bit heavy too it was..

I tried soldering motorcycle cables years ago.

Ordinary solder is way too soft and pulls out. I recon they should be braised.

I'll second that! The clutch cable on my kart used to pull the solder nipples off left right and centre. Eventually we braised them on instead and they lasted much longer.

Hi Guys
The real answer is to use the right cable in the first place. Escort mk2 or Cortina, both have an eye at the pedal end that a 6mm bolt slides through just nicely and fits Escort, Cortina and Sierra clutch forks. Problem solved.
