Flat Tyre
Guinness - 21/11/05 at 06:37 PM

My Dad has just phoned, he has a flat tyre on his VW Touran. Luckily he's at home, but he needs the car in the morning.

He's checked the boot and there isn't a spare. There is a can of tyre weld and a compressor.

Question is if he puts the tyre weld in, as a temporary fix, does this "write off" the tyre, or can they still do a normal puncture repair?

Cheers Mike

normally ruins the tyre, though it should say on the tin

AA or RAC?

Most tyre companys will not repair a tyre that has had this in it because it takes too long to clean out properly and get any adhesive to stick.

Cheers guys, just been round and taken the offending wheel off. Has a small puncture right in the centre of the tread.

I'll drop it in to Kwik Fit in the morning for repair. Seems a waste of an otherwise good tyre to use the tyre weld stuff.

Cheers again

Mike
