Samsung LCD Television

Just a bit of a moan.

Bought a new 37" Samsung LCT television through John Lewis Direct mainly because they offer a 5-year guarantee and also because we felt if there were any problems, dealing with John Lewis would be easier than some unknown on-line supplier.

Anyway, we're having a slight problem with the internal digital tuner taking up to 15 seconds to change channel so 'phoned John Lewis Direct. Very helpful but we must 'phone Samsung with the date of purchase, model number and serial number which they gave us.

Phoned Samsung, the model number isn't complete so wait till I get home and check the number on the set. Can't phone Samsung then as after 6:00pm.

Phoned next day with revised info and am given a reference number but they still need additional information off the set.

'Phone again today, am I in front of the set. No, I'm at work. When can I be in front of the set? After 6:15pm.

Sorry we're not here after 6:00pm could you phone on Saturday?

And so it goes on! £1,500 and a still a load of hassle.

I'd take it up with John Lewis, how long ago did you buy the set?

Ned.

its not up to you to sort this out. Take it to the place you bought it of and get them to sort it out. you should not have to talk direct to the manufacturer.

Got it on 29th May.

John Lewis tell me that during the first year I will have to deal with Samsung but after that with their own engineers.

Interestingly they said that after the first year it will be a lot easier!

Absolute BS. The supplier is the responsible party.
They sold you the goods NOT Samsung.

Most suppliers try this one... it's boll0cks!!! You bought the TV from them NOT Samsung, your contract is therefore with THEM not Samsung. Honestly... some companies. I didn't think John Lewis stooped THAT low!!!! I've always rated them but maybe my rating is dropping!!!

Go back with the TV and basically demand your money back - it's your right, not theirs!

Have a word with your local Trading Standards office - or tell John Lewis that you are about to go and have a chat!
