DONT reach for something that is in front of the speedo by putting your arm through the steering wheel while you are going round a corner.
you WILL hurt your arm and you WILL hit a concrete post

Did that, once, in a multi storey car park. Put the ticket on the dash, and as I dropped down to the final exit level put my hand through the wheel to get the ticket as I came off the end of the ramp.

Nearly snapped my wrist!

I'm so thick sometimes I wonder if I'm secretley blonde!

Pushed my odo trip reset once as I was pulling out of garage, then had to avoid another car, and snapped my indicator stalk off...

Trust you'll be ok soon

Another tip from me: Don't get towed in a friend's car without keys in ignition

Doh, another great mistake of mine, was when I was at college in London. Had a Fiat Uno that had a very tempermental ignition switch. So bad that it just sort of hung down beneath the steering wheel.

One evening, I went back to the car, turned the ignition switch by hand, it sparked, gave me a belt, I dropped it, the car was in gear, and now travelling across the gravel car park by the power of starter motor, back wheels dragging along, me trying to get the thing out of gear / drop the clutch / brake as we lurched towards an Aston Martin. Managed to stop the Fiat about 5" away from the biggest insurance claim of my life!

when i first past my test i got a brown mark1 astra on my way home from work one night i was changing a tape and it droped and fell into the passenger footwell so i did the natural thing and leaned down to get it taking my eyes of the road only for to look up and the car that was in front had now stopped to turn right i made a right mess of the other car and couldnt get out of mine got in a right panic started to kick the door from the inside my trousers were the same colour as the car

Morris Minor's had pocket in the dash each side. I knew someone who broke his daughters arm because she reached through the steering wheel into the drivers recess to get something. At exactly the same time a vehicle going the opposite way crossed the centre lines and he HAD to take avioding action, the result was that he snapped his daughters arm to avoid an accident.

i did it in my van, flashed the hazard lights as someone let me pull out, bloody hurt as i straightened the wheel out! Its something you can only do once though

Yep guilty here too. Resetting the odo after filling up with petrol! A friend at work did summat similar. He was sticking his finger in a hole just behind the underside of the steering wheel and it stuck. He just panicked but didn't think to just stop I had to scream at him to put the brakes on
