Have any of you guys had any dealings with this site before
LINKY

Jubal - 12/12/07 at 08:56 PM

That site is so similar to the fluke motorsport site that it cannot be a coincidence.

Werner Van Loock - 12/12/07 at 08:58 PM

The guy from that shop is on here somewhere, can't remember his nickname, but guess he'll pop up here.

RichieW - 12/12/07 at 09:24 PM

Its fatboy dave's

DaveFJ - 13/12/07 at 09:12 AM

As several members on here already know, I ordered (and paid for) a manifold from fatboy Dave over 10 weeks ago now. No sign yet! and I have stopped getting responses to my emails/U2Us......

I am now looking for an alternative supplier

[Edited on 13/12/07 by DaveFJ]

skidmark - 13/12/07 at 09:53 AM

Hmmm. Now that is interesting... I think I can beat your 10 weeks!

I think I'm coming up to the 13 week mark now!! (waiting for a XE to GSXR1000 manifold + extension bits).

I seem to have had the worst luck in the world with this bloomin order!

First of all the website didn't let him know I'd ordered which took up a couple of weeks, then Royal mail lost a parcel, then the were no manifolds in stock so I had to wait for another batch, then Royal mail lost another parcel.

This was getting to the 2 month mark at this point! I got tired of waiting last week and actually arranged a courier (through Interparcel) to collect it. Twice out of the three "guaranteed" collection times, UPS didn't bother attempting a collection and the thrid time, he hadn't quite got home in time and they missed him!

It was due to be posted again on Monday via TNT but unsurprisingly it still hasn't arrived!

Dave has generally replied to my u2u's and been helpful and it really does sound like it is just bad luck but how much bad luck can one order have!?

I would go and collect it but it's in Portsmouth (and I'm in Norfolk / Cambridgeshire) which I just don't have time to do!

Has anybody else had similar issues - there certainly seems to be something funny going on with the post in that area!

Cheers

Duncan_P - 13/12/07 at 10:12 AM

I am also up to three weeks now waiting for extension bits, which i didnt think was too great but 13 weeks!! Now im getting worried

DaveFJ - 13/12/07 at 10:14 AM

Interestingly i was also told that the first parcel sent had got lost in the post......

Pdlewis - 13/12/07 at 10:17 AM

for someone who has rubbished the compettiton and wont produce manifolds with bent runners to suit the carbs this is poor. At least when people order from the likes of bogg they are told there will be a long wait

whitestu - 13/12/07 at 10:43 AM

I ordered early October and am still waiting.

Mine got lost twice in the post too.

Was told today mine was posted yesterday.

Stu

skidmark - 13/12/07 at 03:02 PM

Don't like the sound of this!

Has anybody actually received anything at all from this company?

triumphdave - 13/12/07 at 03:55 PM

Mines only been a couple of weeks know.It was posted tuesday so hope mine dosnt go missing in the post too.Has someone got his address perhaps we could have a group outing.
A geezer in Wales ripped me off for an engine a couple of years ago for £100 I hunted him down for a couple of months,so I would defo not let a couple of hundred quid go without a fight.(I squeak when I walk).
But seriously if its genuine probs with the mail fair enough. He is still loging on to this site as he has answered my last U2U,praps he will see this thread and put all our minds at rest.

DaveFJ - 13/12/07 at 04:09 PM

DaveFJ - 14/12/07 at 09:34 AM

He was on again at 11.33 pm 13th...

Guess he doesn't want to comment???

DarrenW - 14/12/07 at 10:22 AM

I was engaged in a rather frank and open, yet constructive, discussion about manifolds etc. Im pleased i went with my original hunch and ordered from Boggs now. They quoted 5 weeks, i said i wanted 6 (holiday), it was actually ready in 4.5. Cant fault there service for manifold or rolling road session. All things considered total cost is very reasonable from them.

MikeRJ - 14/12/07 at 10:40 AM

I certainly think he has a point about bent runners, some of the manifolds I have seen from other suppliers certainly wouldn't win any awards for balanced flow between the runners.

It's a great shame that the service appears to be lacking though. I sent the website URL to several people who were interested in doing bike carb/tb conversions, will point them to this thread so they can make their own minds up as I don't want to look like a git (any more than normal!) for suggesting it.

DarrenW - 14/12/07 at 11:57 AM

It might be worth allowing Dave to comment now before anyone jumps in with GTS (dare i say that!! ) style responses etc. There are some core members here with genuine concerns so id hate there worries to get diluted. If he runs the site as a hobby then leadtimes will be longer at some periods than if it were a principle business. There may be some issues that havent been communicated that are causing the delays.

Im not saying excessive leadtimes and low level of communication is excusable but he may have a good reason. Has everyone read and understood the conditions of use? id all those still waiting get an order confirmation?

Cue FBD stage left......................

(BTW im not implying anyone has been discourteous or has done any flaming - but these threads have a habit of getting silly...)

I really hope you are right, but its not the lead times that are the problem,I think we are all more concerned about the amount of orders that go missing in the post. After the first order went missing I would of sent the rest recorded delivery,Its getting on for 1/2 doz missing orders that we know about,so far.As I said my order is know due monday, lets hope that its not lost in the post,I will let you all know.

skidmark - 15/12/07 at 05:28 PM

My parcel didn't arrive again so I've unfortunately (after over 13 weeks) had to give up waiting and asked for a refund.

Hope this is all just a genuine postage problem as I really did believe Dave was being helpful and trying to get the parcel to me and that this was all just bad luck until I heard others had been suffering similar problems!

As was said previously, a quick reply from him would really help put our minds at ease.

He did say that I was welcome to come and collect the parcel any time I wanted so maybe those of you nearer the south coast would be better going to collect yours rather than asking for it to be posted again?

whitestu - 16/12/07 at 02:27 PM

I'll be doing the same if I haven't got mine by Monday.

I'm prepared to accept there have been some postage issues, however the number of failed deliveries seem highly improbable.

I'm tempted to post all the U2U messages I've had and let people make up their own minds about this supplier.

skidmark - 17/12/07 at 08:56 PM

No there's a surprise!

Any suggestions for alternative suppliers (other than Boggs Bros and Altiss) who aren't going to charge the earth?

Having said that though I think I'd rather pay a bit more if I knew I was going to actually get my order!!

Fatboy Dave - 17/12/07 at 09:07 PM

Sorry people, don't venture down here that often hence not seeing this thread.

Anyone who has anything outstanding has a u2u. Anyone who wants a refund can have one. |Anyone who needs a manifold can have one. At the moment, with the nature of my day job, nothing will happen until the new year (retail distribution at christmas anyone?)

Sorry if anyone feels hard done by, I have provided proof of postage where I can (or remembered - I'm pretty poor at remembering things. This is why anyone who orders from me is given my mobile to contact me). Suffice to say, no one goes away worse for their custom, no one will be hard done by.

DaveFJ - 17/12/07 at 10:21 PM

no U2U here?

DarrenW - 18/12/07 at 05:20 PM

What happens to all the parcels that go missing? Does this mean you are massively out of pocket Dave? Im pleased it didnt happen to me, id be devasted if i lost so much value of parts due to crap couriers and then had to remanufacture and appease all of my customers.

Hope it all gets sorted for everyones sake.

Fatboy Dave - 18/12/07 at 06:12 PM

Everything is insured, I learned that lesson the hard way. Only pisser is it takes so long to claim. Royal Mail is 20 working days for them to 'search' for it, then they'll decide the claim after. Shitty Link are equally poor. DHL (which ought to stand for Drop it Hide it Lose it) don't even get a look in when they lost a laptop a customer was returning to us and refused to believe the contents of the parcel.

TNT and UPS are just too expensive to use. Parcel2go is unreliable as it uses City Link. Fortunately my production costs are fairly low as I have a half decent margin, but the time it takes to make a manifold (and make all the associated parts) can't be measured in pounds unfortunately. A lost manifold is a pain, three lost out of one consignment sent at the same time creates a huge problem as I don't often keep that many of the same type in stock.

skidmark - 20/12/07 at 09:55 AM

I've decided to hang on a bit longer for my manifold and bits now and intend to go and collect them in the new year if that's OK with Dave.

If anybody likes, I may be able to collect theirs as well and drop of on my way home (Portsmouth to South Norfolk) to avoid further postage issues?

If my bits dont turn up i will come with you if you want some company, you more or less have to go by my place to get there.I could get someone to drop me of on your route and we could share the petrol. I am sure Dave would love to see us to pick up the parts after all the trouble he is having with all the couriers and post office.

skidmark - 21/12/07 at 08:57 AM

That sounds like a good plan! - any help with petrol costs and some company on the drive down would be appreciated.

I'll give anybody who's intersted a U2U ASAP in the new year when I know what day would be best (within the first week or so ideally).

It seems if you want something done properly, do it yourself! (bloomin courier companies!!). I'm sure we'll all be glad to have this sorted out!

DaveFJ - 21/12/07 at 10:01 AM

hmmmm... suffolk is kinda on route too....

whitestu - 21/12/07 at 12:53 PM

I don't think I'll be able to come along, but will be happy to chip in for the petrol costs.

scootz - 6/1/08 at 10:53 AM

Bugger... wish I'd noticed this thread sooner!

I ordered stuff at the start of November and have received nothing to date.

I was told that the parcel had been sent out (!) in November and now communication has dried up.

DarrenW - 10/1/08 at 11:48 AM

Did everything get sorted out in the end?

DaveFJ - 10/1/08 at 11:54 AM

Darren - you have U2U

DaveFJ - 10/1/08 at 12:58 PM

Just had a call from Chris (Skidmark) and he has picked up manifold and is now driving back to east anglia with it!

[Edited on 10/1/08 by DaveFJ]

DarrenW - 10/1/08 at 02:07 PM

That is fantastic news.

Maybe its true what they say about fantastic engineers, ...... they dont always make the best business people.

DaveFJ - 11/1/08 at 11:21 AM

I now have my manifold

I guess the only thing stopping me being ready for Stoneleigh is me now!

Best I get my finger out and get this damn car working!

PerS - 26/1/08 at 09:18 AM

I ordered a Zetec flange in mid December and I´m still waiting

scootz - 11/2/08 at 09:13 AM

Mid-December... that's nothing. I ordered in early November and still no product or refund!

boxprod - 13/2/08 at 12:18 PM

I'm a total new boy on this site, but I'm glad I found it.
I'm converting a 35-year-old Ginetta to an EFI setup, and I ordered a set of DCOE manifold adapters and a spacer kit for K1 TBs from the Turbo Shop online site on 7th November, at a cost of £97.19.
Before Christmas I got a few emails from him giving a series of excuses why the goods haven't got to me, from the "lost in the post" version to his colleague breaking a leg snowboarding and leaving him with far too much to do.
Eventually (17th December) he offered me a refund, but I want the kit, not a refund, and since then I have had no response at all, despite my sending him several emails saying just that.
Despite what he claims, he has never given me any way of contacting him apart from email, and I'd almost given up when I found him on your site.
I wonder what he'll do with the email I've just sent him?

PerS - 13/2/08 at 01:39 PM

Hi!

Someone on www.audi-sport.net have used this site: http://www.who.is/whois-com/ip-addre...le-bodies.com/

and found this:

He will probably bin it.

Offered me a refund as well, but... apparently my PayPal account wasn't working!!! This despite the fact that I also made a number of transactions on that day and PayPal told me it was working.

scootz - 16/2/08 at 09:43 PM

Cheers Per.

Number doesn't work.

DarrenW - 22/2/08 at 10:02 PM

Sounds like your planning something. It has been mentioned that Dave is away for a few weeks (4?) so you may not be able to contact him.

Info has come to me 3rd hand so please dont shoot the messenger.

vinny1275 - 25/2/08 at 02:03 PM

I'm still waiting after a month, and only sporadic contact from Dave when I've prodded. Latest one is that his business partner was supposed to have sent them, as Dave's away in Newcastle till March 17th - I've asked for either his bp's contact details, the tracking number for the parcel or a full refund.

BTW, the phone number eariler in the listing is wrong - 01392 is the code for Exeter, the one in the domain listing is 02392 312412. That doesn't seem to be a valid number tho, and 02392 doesn't cover Fareham, where he apparently lives....

Thanks,

Vince

vinny1275 - 26/2/08 at 08:27 AM

Hi all,

Had an email from Dave last night, his business partner is his girlfriend, whose number he wouldn't give me - he's going to supply a refund for the spacer kit I ordered. He's also taken his site offline as he can't service the orders he's getting at the moment.

Thanks,

Vince

Jenko - 26/2/08 at 11:08 AM

I think a few of us are waiting for refunds....Problem is they never get to us.....

I was promised a refund over a month ago via paypal........that never arrived.....then a cheque, that never arrived.....We all get the same story with the refunds that we did with our products...............

I sincerely hope he does manage to get products out / refunds paid, very soon as I for one am not really looking forward to going down the small claims route....But, the wheels are already in motion, and it will end up costing Dave much more money in the long run.

If from the start he was honest enough just to say the parts had not been made yet, rather than the postage stories that we ALL had, then fine....But I waited 4 months before I noticed this thread and now feel like a total mug!.

boxprod - 26/2/08 at 01:45 PM

Been away working (much as Dave claims?), and only just back to find trouble with the address and telephone found by Per.
I checked with the BT website, and the code for Fareham is 01329, so a simple typo there, which means the full info is as follows:-

David Graham
17 Southampton Road
Fareham
PO16 7DZ (Royal Mail confirms this is a correct postcode)
tel: 01329 312412
email 1: dave-graham2@ntlworld.com
email 2: dave@throttle-bodies.com
email 3: dtg781@gmail.com

He's sent me an email saying I could have a refund - no hint of any apology for incompetence or fraud - or I can have the goods when he returns from wherever it is on the 17th March.

I wrote back that I will ring him that day to confirm despatch, but I'm not holding my breath.

If any of us is planning a more legalistic attack, then I'll be happy to join in.

DarrenW - 31/7/08 at 09:56 AM

Original post was 6 months old and i believe was dealt with. Latest reply serves no useful purpose IMO.

scootz - 31/7/08 at 10:17 AM

Was never dealt with Darren... FatBoyDave ripped a load of us off for a tidy sum of money which was not recovered.

But your right - that latest post doesn't really add anything to help!

FWIW, FatBoyDave was recently banned from Locostbuilders as he had resurfaced a few weeks ago!
