Anyone any experience of the 2006 on L200 2.5 DID? I'm seriously tempted, saw one with coupe type top and really liked it, so any experience good or bad greatfully recieved.
my mate had a 03 plate
90,000 ish
gearbox failed , layshaft bearing fault
quite common , when you start to ring round for one
I would go for the ford ranger over the L200. the L200 is very flat when towing and has the worlds worst turning circle. Also there isnt alotof room in the cockpit compaired to the ford, toyota etc
Just make sure you trade off the purchase price against rises in fuel costs and the inevitable high depreciation.
Prices for low mpg vehicles are plummeting right now, so you should be able to get a good deal.
It was this top which really did it for me:

My boss has one, I like it but at 6'3" there isnt olot of head room
bounce bounce bounce bounce (thats me driving my works l200) but I suppose you are going to get that from all these type of vehicle
Disagree with the last comment, I have a Navara and found it to be very sure footed minimum roll and quite quick. Plenty of toys in the Adentura
I have an 06 plate Animal. Its the new shape one like the one in the photo. I have only had it a couple of months and love it. I am getting 31-32MPG
out of it as an average. The Animal pulls well when towing my car trailer.
The new L200 is lots better than the old one the turning circle has been improved and is now best in its class. Dont know about the gearbox on it but
I did have a chat with a friend thats the service manager in the Mitz garage down the road. I asked him what he really thought of them and said the
new ones dont give any real trouble but the old ones he would not recommend. He knows I will be towing with it and did not think it would cause any
problems.
The Animal has the power upgrade and is about 170bhp and goes well cursing at motorway speed is no problem with loads left if you need to get past
something.
The pre 2006 L200 did have a very poor turning circle and drank fuel like it was going out of fashion.
