A muppet with not much engine experience installs a bike clutch

Think need to visit ebay to get a new clutch basket and find a bike machanic to fit it for me

Did you get all the bits out the engine?

If it did that running then your best at least dropping the oil to get rid of any swarf.

Last thing you want is a lunched engine!

If you havn't got all the bits out then you need to take the sump off and pick out what you can - if there are still bits missing then its a fingers crossed job

I think i was fortunate killeds it as soon as it happend and when i took the bolts off the columns had not splintered so i dont think there are any bits in the engine I think this is further confirmed by the fact there were no bits on the housing just under the clutch or on the clutch cover

Thats not pretty but might be a good time for a barnet spring upgrade though?

That would be ideal but with the possability of redundancy i think its going to be the cheapest replacement possable for the rest of the build

He torqued it up a bit then?

It was me that did it havnt got a clue what i did wrong thought id got all the settings as described in the book. This is why i think I should find a pro to fit it next time

I was thinking of doing mine this winter.

I've done it a few times - and didn;t find it that hard.

If you do get a pro to do it, ask if you can watch, so you can learn and not have to pay again.

I've doen mine about 5 times because the plates keep sticking and I've not found it hard at all. It looks like you alternated the plates okay. Did you put the final friction plate on right though? It doesn't go on like the rest? That or it looks like you maybe over torqued it?

Was that on your drive or on the private road?

It was on the drive I had been having problems getting the clutch pedal right and had over pulled it so had to pop it off an reset it just didnt reset it properly it would appear

I've done something similar with mine in the past. I didn't realise mine was set up in a such a way as that it could push the cover off the clutch basket. It wrecked the cover plate and required a new one and a different pedal set up to prevent it happening again.
