Help with my Stupidity
nib1980 - 2/3/09 at 06:22 PM

Hi All

Now please ecuse my stupidity, but i was given some original weber trumpets and told they were for my DCOE40s.

they are the slot in type.

But for the love of me they don't seem to slot in.

The OD of the trumpet is 44.95mm (are these for 45s?)

Or are you suppsed to disassemble the carbs or something?

I mean i measured the DCOE inlet and its got a taper on it down to around 37mm (but i thought this was the choke.)

HELP please wth my stupidity

Many thanksNeil

but by my reckoning i need slot in ones that are 36mm, which is not a dcoe 40 then?

The butterfly should be 40mm od.

I think the bores of the carbs are parallel other than the choke, but could be wrong. Dont have any tomeasure up for you anymore

Have a look at this:

Piece 18 is the bit you're on about and it butts up against the leading edge of the choke, and as such is the same diameter as the carb, ie 40's take a 40mm bell, 45 a 45mm.
