I went to the local garage to try to set the emissions. Not only did I fail (thats a whole other story), but the clutch died on the way out of the garage. My SVA is on Tuesday, and I've got to find and fit a new clutch release arm on the Triumph Daytona engine, before then....

So peeeeed off right now!

I feel your pain! Mine is next Thursday and so far this week I've over-thrown my clutch so that had to come out and be reassembled, the gaiters on my drag links had perished so bought new ones and went to fit them today only to discover I'd lost them and then went to set the toe on the rear to find that the rod that goes through the bottom of the upright has jammed solid so the toe is staying as it is! It's almost as if the car doesn't want to go to SVA!!

unlucky mate, any local garages you can get the clutch pack from? Any decent triumph forums that you could post any questions on or requests for the parts needed?

I know its hard to see it this way, but it could have broken on the way to the test (if driving) or during the self centre test, at least you have opportunity (however small) to fix it.

Thats bad luck alright but as said if you can get 1 and fit it better than it happening on the day.

It has screwed both the actuaton rod which is held in place by the clutch pack/basket, and the 'lifter rod' which sits in a housing cast into to the clutch cover. At best, I can find a used clutch cover with lifter rod, and a new actuation rod or complete clutch assembly. I am on the look out for any engines being broke, so I will be trekking wherever may be needed to get the parts tomorrow.

I have posted on t595.net, but the problem is there are much fewer owners on the forum (it is no LCB after all!). As such, despite some helpful return posts, I've not yet come up trumps....

I went there once and they had all sorts of bikes being broken not sure what but worth a try.

I was so tempted to ask the price of the busa engine but thought better of it.

Try a parts finder service, they call round the breakers for you and charge commision.

What is the exact model of daytona, there have been a few - perhaps we could help with the online search?

I'm sure you will sort it, but if you don't...

You should be able to take it along in its present state. It will fail the test, but then you have 6months to rectify the faults.

At least that way it would all be SVA and not the dreaded IVA.

p.s. my test is in 10days or so, so I feel your pain.

I figure they would reject the car if it cant be driven. You couldn't test steering or brakes amongst others...

Brakes can be tested without the engine running unless you have a servo (unlikely) .Steering will fail on self centering but at least you would have 6 months to sort it.

Update - having driven all the way to south Wales today, I have some parts, one of which is broken - but hoepfully, I can cobble something together to make the clutch function.... Still hoping I can sort it out - defeat is not an option!
