planning winter engine transplant
chris_smith - 27/4/09 at 08:45 PM

ok so iv passed SVA today and im now contemplating my winter engine transplant, currently have 1300 crossflow,
id like to do it as cheap as possible without spending a small fortune, this car has been built at an absolute minimum and id like to stay in the same vain

i see the options as
Zetec 2.0L
Mazda V6
4Age

what other options can you suggest (not bike engines im not interested)

iv got type 9 box, live axle, and dont fancy going IRS just at the moment

What can you guys/gals suggest??

cheers
chris

i wouldn't bother, i did and i can't get the new engine to run right. done 12 miles since taxing it, and had the new engine out 4 times

(but if i did i'd go 4age)

Gotta be Mazda V6
I can help connect it to a type nine (not sure how long it would last with 200 BHP though )

edit to add - not sure about the type 9 - but then Mx5 box's are cheap and strong !

i do like the mazda v6, i had one of the MX-3's loved it, never stopped revving, would that engine mate straight onto an mx-5 box??

Not quite a straightforward fitting job - but it can be done - I'm in the middle of doing 2 more conversions , 1 for a Fury and another for an Mx5 .
There's a few pictures in my archive of the work involved........
