The missus is away all weekend and I've taken Friday off work so I've got a full 4 days in the garage all to my self - woohoo
.
Anyways, I'm aiming to get the engine (ZX12r) fired up this weekend and wondered if anyone had a few handy hints for checking before I go
ahead?
Here's what I've got so far:
* Cooling systems all plumbed in but not filled
* The engine loom is fairly un-molested albeit re-directed so I don't envisage any massive problems there.
* I've got the original ignition barrel so no resistors to worry about.
*Battery is to be filled and charged yet but I guess that'll only take 24 hours?
* Fuel to be filled
* Oil to be filled and filter changed
* Turn over by hand a few times first
* Fire Extinguisher on standby
* Make sure it's in neutral
I'm sure ther's loads for me to add to this?
ETA - I'll pick up a new set of sparkplugs too I think.

video camera to record the major event.

Don't you need to try starting it without spark plugs on in order to build up oil pressure?

You're not far off mate...
Plugs out and turn over first... get the Oil flowing, it always goes better with a bit of lube first
Definately the Video Camera needs to be out - set on a wide angle to capture your look of joy!
Good luck and let us know how it goes...

Prepare for the stupid ear to ear grin when it fires up and your collection of parts becomes a living, breathing beast

Will you be able to move it under it's own power or is that further down the line...?
Yeah I could possibly move it, just need to bleed the brakes but I'm in no rush to do that just yet.
Any sparkplug recommendations from the BEC folk on here?
Tissues, especially if it starts first time.
(err, just me then?)
Clutch/sidestand safety cut-outs?
How do you do this ? I can't find a way with my bike unless you push it in gear with the ignition off. Don't buy dear spark plugs till you have it running properly as the iridiums and platinums don't like flooding and will not clean up to be reused like standard plugs.
