Heyup guys,
having a quiet night in on my own for a change so surfing the net and pondering various aspects of my build. Just after a bit of advice about going
from Carbs (bike carbs on a cvh engine) to Fuel injection (1.8 zetec up at rs1800 spec using the ford equipment for EFi - ecu, injectors, TB's
etc)...
I know the fuel tank will need a swirl pot and a return line for unburnt fuel. Asside from that is there anything else required for the conversion?
The reason for asking so early on in the build is so I can design in the bits needed for an easier upgrade in the future
all advice appreciated
A pre pats ecu

All rubber fuel pipes must be injection standard, the carb fuel pipes will burst under the much higher pressure.
up from under 10 psi to 3 bar
you dont need a pre PATS ecu, the mk1 focus PATS ecu's are a doddle to wire up.
descent fuel pipes, Power from permanent live and ign position 2, somewhere close to engine to house ecu (preferably where it wont get too hot or get
covered in water) and i think thats about it for major mods.
as said above if you can get a pre PATS ecu which is the standard ford imobiliser system all the better, some ECU's had internal PATS some
external. i believe if you used a PATS one you would also need the matching key, ignition barrel and key sensor unit (although you can just cable tie
the key to the sensor so imobilised is deactivated). if you using the standard ECU will also need the MAF mass air flow sensor. makes space a problem
but thing theres many on here who have made it all work

I know its on a Pinto, but the basic principles apply, just look at the images in a mirror!
It does make for a very reliable and easy to start car
The ecu does need the maf, lambda, tps, cps and a few more to run but as above it does make a smooth easy engine if not the most powerfull engine.
That said it wil run a set of throttle bodies and give more power than standard for a lot less money and work than other after market ecu's
I know Mev are using the Focus ecu but there is not alot of info out there.
cheers guys,
got the 1.8 zetec, a guy in newcastle has 2.0 ecu, 2.0 throttle bodies, 2.0 maf and a set of 2.0 injectors which have been built into a 1.8 rail.
I've found 2.0 cams on ebay for around 40-60 quid so the majority of bits are easy to convert the zetec to rs1800 spec, I was just thinking along
the lines of fuel lines etc as mentioned
thanks for all the info so far!
