Whats your thoughts folks, I have rebuilt a 2.0 131 Mirifiori engine...

Complete strip down & thorough clean.

Block rebored to accept nearly new 1600 dome top pistons & rings , higher CR etc.

New water pump
Cam belt


Including replacement of all gaskets.

The crank & big ends are fine and will go back in, as will the oil pump.

Its currently available with a ADF carb or can be supplied with a pair of solex C40 PHH carbs & manifold.

Do I fit in in my Lada or would anyone be interested in buying the engine as a unit.

Included would be the coil/bosch ignition pack ecu, the stock carb .

The Solex & manifold would be included at extra cost.

whats the thoughts folks, Zetecs more popular ???

Nice engine, but way overshadowed by Fords and Vaux twin cam 16 valvers now.

About 20 years ago bigrich and me put one in a dutton pheaton...

Yes, Zetecs and VXs make more power and are more modern, but the Fiat twink has something about it.

How much is it worth with a gearbox ?

Ive just spent £220 on the rebuild kit, the new pistons cost £115.

The engine cost me £200.

So to break even I will be looking for at least £500.

However it will be a sound engine, new pistons/rings etc.

And yes it is an old engine, but they definately have something about them.

I sold a low mileage one a couple of years ago for £80 because to tune it to anywhere near the standard of a modern twink, it was going to cost a fortune! I still have one in a kitcar pickup but it will also be on Ebay as soon as I get to it...!
Twin cam sounds good but it's still 8 valves. Unless you do the 16v conversion off the Thema(IIRC).

Yes your right there...

Modern 1600s will do what the Fiat will do easier...

The appeal is its an "old" classic engine.

My Lada will appreciate it, even if it has cost an arm and leg to fettle.
