R1 radiator - can you buy them new?

Does anyone know if you can still buy 02/03 R1 radiators new, and if so, how much they cost?

I recently bought a used one on ebay, and while its probably in decent condition as far as a 6 year old bike rad goes, a fair few of the fins on the front are caved in, and I don't think I'd be confident using it on my car!

A nice condition used one would be ideal, but I get the feeling that these might be quite hard to come by!

Sure your local bike dealer will say yes while grinning and rubbing his hands together...

Just make sure you take tons of wonger and a sense of humour when you go

I take it they're expensive then!

Might persevere with my shabby one, and try and straighten the bent fins with a tooth pick.

Think I'll also take a trip to a local bike breakers to see if they have any ones in better condition too.

If it's for a Fury , why not use a Polo rad ? Larger , and a lot cheaper

Not necessarily any better at cooling though.

With the R1 engine from same year I have the Polo rad and JimG has the R1 rad - we run pretty much identical water temps under the same driving conditions.

Given the choice I'd fit the R1 rad its not worth the aggro of me changing it at the moment from the Polo rad although it would save a bit of weight...

if it does leak then keep it

if it ain't broke, don't fix it and all that

It doesn't leak, but I was more worried about the cooling efficiency being reduced by the bent fins. I'm going to have a shot at straightening them up and see how it goes.

I've chosen the R1 radiator because its a good few kilos lighter than a polo one, especially when you take into account the higher capacity of the polo version. Radiator and fan cost me £50 delivered on ebay, so if I can use it, then it should work out cheaper than a polo one with fan!
