1.8 duratec useable or not

1.8 duratec usable or not as you dont see them to often are they s**t or what. i've been given one. don't know if should use it or not.

Isn't that the one in the early mondeos? If so I've had one (in original car) and it was good enough, didn't exactly take off but it did have 140k on the clock!

Hey if it's free and it runs... Can always change it over one winter if it's that bad

I don't think it is from early Mondeos. If it is I've got two of them one at 97000miles and the other still in daily use at 148000 miles. But I think these are silvertop zetecs. Both still smooth and quiet so last well. Not the ultimate in performance but given less weight in a locost would perform well enough. I think duratec is used for the V6's and some of the later 4's that are really zetecs.

look's the same as flak monkeys but in 1.8 form not 2.0 from an 02 mondeo mk3

hi, which side is the exhaust and inlet?

and i think duratec come in 2001.

the 1.8 is just less power than the 2.0

Duratech has a chain driven cam set up.
