Afternoon all,

I am swapping out my ZX9R next month.

At the moment it is a C but will be changing to an 'E'.

Is there anything I should be aware of when doing the swap?

I would like to keep the 'C' wiring to start with to get the new engine running then I will be rewiring once up and running.

Is there anything stopping me from doing this?

I presume that I will need to swap out the IC Ignitor Unit but is there anything else I should look out for.

The E is injection I think as oppose to the C carbs so you'll need a fuel return line putting in and the wiring is slightly different around the fuel system if I recall. You can see on a Haynes wiring diagram the differences.

The E is carb too.

I don't think the E has the cam position sensor that the C has so the wiring is different. You could try it and just connect what is there but the cdi may be a no go if it wants a signal that is missing. Looking at the two cdi units in ebay pictures they look completely different

Thanks guys for the reply's.

What do I need to do with things like side stand and neutral switches and any others I may have missed?

C Head had the cam sensor and is wired to the CDI.

E Head doesn't have the sensor hole (it's there but not machined through, easy way to identify the different heads), ignition pick up is on the front RHS of the motor (on the crank), this is wired to the CDI.

I think the fuse boxes are the same but the CDI's and looms aren't.

Got a ZX9C in my car, ride a ZX9E bike, so let me know if you want me to photo anything.

Have done this swap, as already been said only major difference apart from a stronger gearbox is the cdi and lack of cam sensor, 5 minute wiring job to change.
