Not hard to make or fit.
You will need an edis 4 and a few other bits of hardware.
whats an edis 4???
and what can i get from the scrappy.??
can anybody post a comprehensive list? as i would be interested too but dont want to pay £300 for all new stuff
OK i just looked at the website, to buy as a pack its £289 from trigger-wheels.com. This includes
Megajolt V4 ECU
New coil pack and connector
New crank sensor and connector
Refurbished EDIS Ignition module
Universal crank sensor bracket
Coil pack bracket
Loom kit
Univeral 36-1 trigger wheel (custom wheel included in xflow bundle)
Set of 8mm silicone spark plug leads
Complete with software and mapping cable to allow you to tune the system and maps for a wide range of engines

maybe a sticky moment???
pretty straight forward if you can think logically, easier and cheaper if you can solder up the kit and pick up the extras as and when spotted, £300
seems steep to me.
Nice bit of kit to have though.
Cheers

Refurbished EDIS Ignition module
Thats crap it means its had a clean and maybe some paint.
Ive bought and sold over 100 of the little buggers now and have even sold them to trigger wheels
you want a coil pack with conector from any zetec. mondeo is as good as any.
You will want a Crank position sensor and plug. Fiesta is easier for this.
You will want an edis 4 This is often found in 1990's fords with say a 1.3 endura engine. get the plug with as much wire as pos.
Its this that fires the ignition with the Mjl being the controler.
Give me a shout if you get stuck finding the ford hardware.
ok....
brackets, triggerwheel i can make...
i can solder....
so i need the sensors and ecu...
am thinking the ecu will have to be bought....what cars will have the other bits on??
cheers

just see your post big wasa....
thank you....
anyone got a drawing for a trigger wheel to fit a pinto???
When the quid was strong I was buying the Mjl for £39 + £10 postage from autolabs.
I could also pick the other bits up for £10 so Two years ago I could get the full thing together for £70.
Edis 4's are getting thin on the ground.
I butcher the lot from my local scrapie and stick them on ebay. It pays for the petrol lol.
I was getting four a week now I am seing one a month.
as per u2
What you see there will run ignition on most four pot engines with 36-1 trigger wheel at 10 deg BTDC (I think its before and not after I allways get
that wrong
)
It has two wires that connect to the controler to alter the advance.
top man...
thank you...
whats the little grey box above the coil???
thanks
barry
Its a 20micro farad Cap for noise suppresion
Standard on the mondeo as it didnt have a screen on the Crank ps or the Cam ps

Ive got Megasquirt;
MS1 V2.2 - £100
MS2 Daughter Board - £100
6Cyl Coil Pack - £13
EDIS 6 - Free with engine (£150)
Spare Coil Pack - Free with Engine
Trigger wheel - Made one on CAD
VR Sensor - Free with engine
Injectors & Plugs - Free with Engine
For an MS2 V3 youll pay £300 odd without the EDIS bits etc.
Barry, if youre going tis route, why not go the little bit extra and go EFI? Gives you laptop control over ignition and fuel.

The eec-v and iv didnt use the screen but had the cap instead.
Just add the cap if you get problems with interferance.
I never found a need to use the suppression capacitor ,but always used screened cable for the crank sensor and pip saw leads.I have fitted one to my
car now it has megasquirt fitted as i was having some problems with miss fires that may have been caused by interference.
If you get a coil pack from a scrapyard it will most likely have the suppressor with it so just fit it to be sure.
