XE Gaskets

Had a little search of the archives but still need to ask.....
I've got a bottom end conversion set which includes two cork sump gaskets. Can I re-use my windage tray in conjunction with the two cork gaskets, or will I need to get a new windage tray aswell??

I always get the sohc rubber one which has a groove in itand fits over the windage tray and I use rtv as well
No leaks so far and its been of and on twice.

As I've got the conversion kit with the other useful gaskets in, can I use my 'old' windage tray with the two cork gaskets??

What are you converting?

If its an old XE windage tray, then yes. I dont know what the 8v ones look like....

But seeing as the bottom ends are pratically the same i should think it'll be fine.

Well OK then I'd say yes what have you got to lose. other than in being a bitch to line them all up and it possibly leaking.

Also if i were you i'd keep a keen eye on yhe bolts after a few 100 miles to m,ake sure they don't slacken off ( given the amount of vibration on these cars and the thickness of 2 cork gaskets) I have seen this happen on race cars.

I have an XE and I'm replacing all the gaskets and seals.
The bottom end set, called a 'conversion set' apparently, contains all seals needed for the bottom end along with two cork sump gaskets.
I will re-use my windage tray in conjunction with the cork gaskets and keep an eye on the bolts.

Thanks chaps

As Omega 24v said, the rubber one off the 20SEH engine is MUCH better!

They are only a fiver, and they never leak. They fit round the windage tray and "envolope" it.

The other alternative, which I now use on all the XE's that we do, is the X20XEV windage tray, which has the rubber seal bonded permanently to it, but these are £25.

OK thanks, I will go with one of them then.....can't stand oil leaks!
