Ive recently had issues with power (to the point where i was about to sell up) however got her booked in for a tune next week. Ive noticed in the meantime that the throttle cable wasnt right - as i pressed the accelerator i got no revs till at least half way down. Ive just altered it so i just have to tap the peddle and she revs. This has changed the car totally as she is 100% quicker off the mark with wheels spinning all over the place! Question is though am i now over revving the car as sounds very throaty at 6-7000 revs and in turn casuing damage? Im running CVH with ZX9 carbs. Also will i have issues as im running a standard non LSD? Your advice please?
Nope looks like the cable is set right now were as before you were only getting half throttle hench the power loss through lack of revs
Hi, you have just learned a very good tuning lesson that many miss.
Is my throttle opening all the way ?
You would be amazed how many dont. The other side of this is fit a throttle pedal stop to avoid stretching/breaking the cable.
As for damaging the engine, I assume it as a rev limiter fitted ? If not fit one dont know what the safe max is for your engine.
I would suggest you dont want to spend to long at max revs though if your looking for longevity.
not sure if it has a rev limiter? how can you tell? (no does it limit the revs comments).
A rev limiter is an electronic device that does not allow the engine to rev over a set limit, normally in the modern cars brain (ecu) if not after
market ones are plentiful, cheap and easy to fit.
eta How can you tell ? Rev the engine obviously keeping a eye on the revs in case it does not have one, when it reaches around for a guess 7k ish revs
it wont go any further and you will hear it "surging" for want of a better word as the limiter keeps cutting the spark.

she seems to be running fine until i got home when i noticed she was running at 110 degrees and so got a wet and burnt foot!
She's getting tuned next week so will find out what is going on - anybody any ideas or recommendations in the meantime?
Probably in need of a good set up session now you have full throttle, heat could be caused by running lean
yeah think your right - let her cool down and all good now. Hopefully when set up properly will be ok
