I have an idea of what is involved but can any one advise or point me towards how to join a Rover T16 turbo engine to a Landrover transmission,
hopefully a LT77?
The V8 is dead, long live the T16!

Steve
i wouldnt do it if its for your 4x4
not enough low down torque unless you are making a cross country speed machine rather than a mud monster or hill climber
Yep, its for the 4x4 Jago, I want to use it as its lying in the garage.. there is a zetec as well, just thought the T16 would be easier to join up.
So, any experience of joining a zetec to a LT77??
Parts from a 2 litre Sherpa or Disco 2litre Turbo
You can use an LT77, ex SD1 , or a new 2wd R380. You can even use a 4x4 one if you convert it to 2wd, but it's hardly worth it...
Bellhousing is 2000 SD1, LDV400 2.0, or Sherpa 2.0 diesel. You will also need the correct engine back plate. The Disco bellhousing is meant to mate up
to a big clutch housing on the back of the engine, and is a different shape
Any idea where I can get the bellhousing bits? Searched eblag but nothing showing there.
I have two steel back plates and flywheels left over from my Montego turbo'd Striker and have the PG1 backplate. clutch and front half of the
gearbox from the donor 820.
be warned, different length first motion shafts involved above, it may not just be bell housing changes.
It all gets a little tricky to be honest, my seven has T16 Turbo engine, SD1 2000 bellhousing, flywheel and clutch, LT77 Gearbox. Have a look at this
excellent site for some good info

Do a google for a bloke called Marko Cosic. He did this conversion years ago.
Here's a link to some stuff.
