X-flow throttle bodies and MS
Nash - 23/8/10 at 05:36 PM

Evening all,
Has anyone fitted Gixxer 750 throttle bodies to a x-flow from here and I was thinking of using a merasquirt.

I want to do this on the cheap as it's not the long term choose for either the engine or the fueling.

So any help greatfully received.

......... Neil

Can't help with the TBs you are asking about but I have fitted ZZR1100 TBs on a home made inlet manifold running on an Emerald ECU which works very well. I picked the TBs because of the bore size (35mm) and the fact they could be respaced easily. With a few other mods the engine produces 127BHP at the flywheel on Emeralds rolling road . At least one other person on the forum used a similar set up successfully.

I'm currently part way through fitting GSXR bodies to my Xflow. I too will use Megasquirt to run it. I've got all of the parts I need now except the Megasquirt itself, so can't comment on how it works. Not sure I'd describe it as cheap, although I guess it is in comparison to other TB set ups!

Am running (as are a few people) megasquirt on a crossflow.

I'm running jenvey bodies now, but i did buy a set of 750 bodies originally. These can easily be respaced, and my original plan was to cut the end off a DCOE manifold and machine them down to accept a bit of hose the right size for the throttle bodies.

If you can make your own manifold, then you can keep the original trumpets, airbox and filter which could work pretty well.

Yes I can vouch for Rusty's set up. We often travel together and I still have the edge power wise. However, I've got twice the CC's and V8 to boot. However, I still have to push fairly hard to actually outdo him. ie The little git still gives me a damn good run for his money

Basically, his X-Flow goes pretty well in my opinion. Not only that it sounds very nice, compared to before he did the TB conversion. It certainly sounds smoother, and runs nicer.

Bike throttle bodies are a good cheap option if done properly.

I believe Claire fitted some Kwakker bodies a few years ago...just before stuffing it into a mountain...

I fitted 38mm gsxr600 t/b's to my 1600 xflow a while back. As I already had a DCOE manifold I respaced the tb's to suit and made up some adapters to fit them to the existing manifold. Some pics in my archive if you're interested.

Once I got a reasonable tune with ms they gave good smooth power, and about 50% better fuel consumption (literally) than the DCOE's.
