FINALLY got my exhaust sorted. got the new flange welded on, and he's done a great job. exactly what was needed.
only, the exhaust has to go down the transmission tunnel, i tacked it up and it fit properly, on the day i took it to him, the tacks broke, so assume
he broke it off completely, and used mine as a guide. problem is now, the exhaust hits the gearbox
what can i do? will heating it up allow me to
pull it out a bit?
Yes heating it up will make the steel more malleable, and you should be able to bend it a bit. If it is stainless then it will be harder to bend than mild steel
depending on how much you need to reshape it, why not try cutting into it with a thin cutting disc, on the inside of the required bend, pulling it
round, then welding that back up?, or the outside and pulling it shut to straighten it a bit?
I have shaped some pretty complex bends just using this method, lots of messing about, but when you dont have bending facilities, its all I could do
will have to ask the guy that welded it if he's got an oxy torch to heat it with, its quite a lot of bending needing done. really not happy,
having too much trouble with this bit
