Zetec engine cooling diagram
Daf - 12/12/17 at 04:51 PM

Afternoon folks, whilst I had 5 minutes to spare I knocked up a quick sketch showing how I have my cooling system configured on my Zetec engine.

Coloured bits represent silicone hose, grey bits represent solid pipes.

Thought it might be a useful picture - feel free to use wherever you want

By all means, when I've put the kids to bed I'll ammend accordingly - it would be my pleasure. After all the picture is free for all to use.

There we go - updates made to original picture, I have also added a couple of annotations. I hope it's of use to you all.

This is what forums are all about. People willing to help others

They're just a bit pointless otherwise

Is this accurate for the ST170 engine too?
Thanks
Ian

Certainly is - the st170 is a glorified zetec blacktop engine

Might be helpful to label "heater bypass" hose...

Done

I am now running a similar setup. However the outlet from the header tank is T'd into the bypass hose from the thermostat housing and the heater is in there too! I don't run the rad bypass as my rad doesn't have one!

Had it on the rollers yesterday and it performed very well cooling wise and the temp stayed as it should do with only a small fan in the front nose to blast air in

Glad you have it sorted - rolling road is always a good test for your cooling system!

ttalps2000 - 14/12/17 at 09:50 AM

it did creep up a little when doing full power runs, but pulling 7k rpm with no air flow over it is going to make it warm up a little more than being on the road!

Is there any chance you could do a version for a car fitted with a heater please? Thanks in advance
