Brooky - 21/3/05 at 09:28 PM

Hi guys, a mate of mine has just bought a Tiger Six with twin weber 45's and has bust his throttle cable (his nipple has fallen off! ooooeerrrrr mrs)
Any idea what size the nipple is and where to get a new one from?
Cheers.

You could make one - alternatively you could always give VWP a call. They provide an excellent service and their prices are reasonable!

If its the original Lotus style linkage where the outer cable moves the quadrant and the inner is fixed just drill and slot a suitable bit of bar (ie a bolt).

Otherwise a trip to your local cycle shop might be the qickest fix.

Yes the bike shop was going to be the planned route. The problem i have is his car is 30 miles away and he wants me to fix it for him. I was after a size of nipple (6mm - 7mm 8mm etc) to start with to save the 45 min of filing and grinding I had to do when I did my throttle cable, but seeoing as mine is a BEC i cant use my linkage as a guide.

As an aside this is a common problem with Tigers (and I assume a lot of other cars as well). It happens because there is no throttle pedal stop or it is innefective so the cable takes all the strain and evetually fails.

I suggest you also tell him to fit a simple adjustable stop to his pedal - a bolt on a bracket with a couple of nuts for adjustment should do the trick.
