BECs are fast, loud and revvy. The noise at full throttle is fantastic. The light weight improves acceleration, braking, cornering and weight balance.

Bike engines are revvy at motorway speeds and are noisy for cruising. They don't have a reverse gear.

You need a longer propshaft, or a two piece shaft but then you don't have a gearbox taking up foot well room so there is more space for your feet.

They are cheaper than modern tuned car engines of the same performance, but more expensive than old ford engines which are usually slower.

I have one and think its great, but it isn't the perfect all round engine. Buy one if you want a sprinter, but a car engine if you want a cruiser.

"Buy one if you want a sprinter, but a car engine if you want a cruiser".

Smart51 I would add to your comment, it may be a cruiser with a car engine, but a very quick one for all that.

But how long is it before you go deaf in one/both ears?

Depends on whether you fit a decent exhaust or not, same can be said of CEC's.
