Cleaning & Testing Injectors?
RazMan - 19/6/06 at 07:42 PM

I want to make sure my injectors are working properly before I try to get the V6 running again. I havent found antone local to do this so I may have to post them somewhere.

Reading up on a couple of websites, apparently they 'need' to be done every 30-40K miles and the filters, pintles and seals all need replacing.

Is it expensive?

Hi mate - my mate in P'boro does them - sure I can get you a good price...

I just made sure mine sprayed - connected them up to fuel rail and then just powered them to make sure they squirted - they did - so I'm going with that

I was wondering how to check them like this. Presumably you leave them in the fuel rail and turn the engine over while looking for the spray pattern?
Sounds a bit messy - is there another way?

Hey Raz,

Trust me - it isn't that messy... it's only a small amount of fuel (if ya pressure's correct - mine wasn't dam ebay FPR @ 6bar!!!)

It's pretty good

Snap! mine was measuring nearly 5 bar - probably enough to stop the injectors firing reliably.

I'll have a look at them tomorrow when I fit my new FSE boost valve (couldn't find a Ford one) At least it will give me about 3 bar and give the injectors a chance.

Absolutely m8 - I thought my injectors had 'dribble' and was gutted - put the pressure back to 3bar - everything is running smooth as silk

FYI

Mech Repairs in Cheltenham have an injector rig and sonic bath for testing/cleaning if you need the service.
