MT75 gearbox to V6
ADD - 21/6/06 at 02:12 PM

Hi All,
Does anyone know if the bellhousing bolt patterns differ on the MT75 gearboxes. I want to fit one to a 24V cosworth v6 and need to know before I buy. Are there many variations of the MT75?

Thanks

Adam

I'm sure I heard Ford have for years designed their stuff with a standard bolt pattern so you can mount any engine to any gearbox, maybe someone can confirm this?

The V6 (24 & 12 valve) MT75 box is different from the DOHC IL4 MT75, the bellhousings are different.

Most of the V6 MT75 boxes are 4x4...

There is a way to turn a V6 4x4 box into a V6 2WD using a 4IL MT75 & you can also fit the Deisel higher 5th gear at the same time if you need more top end or a super cruise gear.....

This is a 4x4 V6 front bellhousing fitted to a Dohc 2wd rear. Had it done by a gearbox firm, Cost £100 to get it done.
It is now fitted in my XR4i behind a 24V V6

Anyone, on that? I have seen various "I think's and I heard's", but does anyone knows if this is possible and how to do it?

Try some of the ford forums, these seem to be quite familiar with duratecs and mt75's
