
i ve done the usual search to no avail.
on a Pinto engine, as some of you my know, there is a difference between the fore and aft angle of the carb and the cylinder block/head.
so my question is this.
do i mount the engine block level which gives the carb a slight forward lean?
or
do i mount the block so that the carb is level which gives the whole engines/gearbox assembly a slight lean to the rear?
hope you can help.
Damn, that's impressive attention to detail. I just wanted the dratted thing to fit under the bonnet!

it is my understanding that the carb is to be level and the engine leaning slightly to the rear.

I'm sticking Webber 40s on mine. The manifold seems to be level with the block. Do I mount the engine horizontal or leaning back a bit?

the intent is the relationship between the crank shaft and pinion gear. the crank, dtiveshaft and diff input should NOT be a straight line. the
crank slopes downward slightly, driveshaft upwards, then the pinion input is downward again. crank to driveshaft angle should equal the drveshaft to
pinion angle. supposed to help eliminate driveshaft vibration and extend u-joint life.
as for the webers, you could mount the engine level, then offset the diff and engine slightly so that the diff is not directly in line with the
crank..

had another look at it today,
i reckon i will be better off with the engine level....to get the front lower down.
i still have to mod the sump yet though.
