The Haynes book of lies for Sierras only gives one set of Ratios for Type 9 boxes. Is this correct if not anyone know the ratios for a sierra with
1.6 Pinto?
TIA
Caber
Think all type 9's have the same ratio in standard sierras.
The only difference I was led to believe was the XR4i box - the V6 meant a different ratio?
I could be talking bol.lox tho
- it's been known
try this.

Also if the ratios have been changed then you could possibly find them on this page
Ratios available?
I think these are the standard ratios
1st 3.65:1
2nd 1.97:1
3rd 1.37:1
4th 1.00:1
5th 0.82:1
Cheers

There are 3 type 9 boxes.
The ones fitted to all 4cyl petrol engines.
The ones fitted to the V6 with long input shaft and low 1st gear
The ones fitted to dieseasals with long input shafts and high 1st geat
I'm trying to make a box for my Pinto with the v6 ratios in it at the moment.
is there a easy conversion - equation to work out whihc ratios are the best for what car?
Dear Father Christmas,
As I've been very good I would like a set of Quaife gears for my Type 9 gearbox. It only costs a little bit under £1000 so I know you can afford
it.

But seriously though - even second-hand Quaife gears cost quite a few hundreds of Pounds, and you never know how well they've been treated. More
than anything else I'd like to go a bit faster than 20-ish mph in 1st before having to change gears. I've seen 2 standard sets of Qaife
gears - the first gives 40-ish in first, the second is nearer 60-ish!
