Just drained the oil out of the gearbox and was wondering if it is ok to flush the gearbox out with some turps/white spirits to get the rest of the
oil out and any sludge?

You can... Just dont leave it in there tool long, and then get some EP back in to coat everything up again.
Whats the LT77 off..?
And where in Ravenshead are you...? I'm just round the corner in Rainworth...
Cheers
Peter
Need to be sure you get all the solvent out!1 if it were me I'd flush it out by driving it with cheap oil in for 50 miles or so.
I used red line synthetic oil in my LT77 and it improved the gearchange no end - from my experiences I'd thoroughly reccommend it
red line synthetic oil it is then, v8kid,
as your the second one to recomend it and comment on the improve gear change!
I'm on Oakwood drive Peter. How far are you with your build? I am just about to ut my RV8 engine in then about about a year away from finishing.
hope to sva late next summer.
Will flush the box out with some old oil and then use red line.
Cheers..
Paul
V8kid
which red line oil did you use...?
cheers
Paul
Hi,
We use Castrol TQF (red oil) in all our LT77's at work - never had a problem.
Cheers
Auto transmission oil is the correct one, if its full of heavy EP then it will be a poor change !
Defo Autotrans fluid or XPART spec MTF not EP grade oil.
Ideally use a Dextron II (originally a GM spec fluid)) or TQA fluid as TQF (orininally a Ford US spec) has more friction additive.
