Went to re-fit my cam belt cover last night and seem to remember there should be some rubber/plastic grommet type fixings between the bolts and the
cover?
Anyone know what I'm talking about and whether you can get the from Ford?
Cheers
Nick
Yup Know exactly what u mean. Rubber washers for top two and one of the bottom ones. PLastic clippy thing on other bottomone. Also bolts have an extra
wide shank to fill the washers.
I amy have some as i have not refitted my timing cover due to new engine being different height and comng without cover.
Not sure if ford do them, sure they would but robaly pricey. Surely a scrappy would be your best bet? Although pintos are as common as they one were
:-(
Will have a look next time i go up to my workshop.

Just find some appropriately sized rubber grommets. You will need three off them, Two for the top area and one for the bottom. They split for a hobby
after a few miles but they are cheap as chips and easy to replace. If you cant find the right size of ordinary grommet then use a blanking grommet and
fit a hole to the middle of it.

Why fit it back on, engine looks better without it.

I do know of one person who left thier timing belt cover off and had a stone throw up off the road and dropped down between the belt and pulley, it threw the belt off and cream crackered the engine.
seems a good enough reason to keep one on.
