Zetec Clutch

I know that this has been done to death, but anyway, I'm using a 1.8 Black Top with a type 9 box, I'm thinking of using the pressure plate that came with the engine and using a standard sierra disc. The lining on the disc appears to be slightly thicker than the original focus one. Will this cause problems? What release bearing? Original release bearing for the box?

With a silvertop i used the original escort clutch cover and plate with a standard Pinto sierra release bearing.I think the blacktop clutch is the same , you just need to make sure the centre of the clutch plate is 1 inch 23 spline as some latter engines had a smaller spline.

Yes the disc has the smaller hole, hence the sierra disc!

I would use a matching plate and cover.

I used an ebay Escort clutch kit with a Capri release bearing. All good for less than £30

Yes me too. Standard mondeo clutch but Q hazel release bearing (taller than sierra one) . I have silvertop 1.8 zetec

Or have the 1.8 flywheel drilled for the sierra pressure plate and use sierra spinner and release bearing (CCT132). This is because the sierra stuff will take more power.

FWD clutches tend to be low profile low lift, RWD clutches are old technology hence the difference in thickness clutch disc --- fit matching cover and disc.
