Someone to re-tap my steering rack
Some billy who tapped the quick rack I have recently bought has used two different taps at each end. So one end the track rod end screws in nicely,
the other is too fine of a pitch.
Spoke to MK who said they will try and retap it, but can anyone on here do it for less than £20 plus two lots of postage?
based in Croydon, Surrey.
M14 tap needed.

Don't re-tap it if the hole is already taped M14 fine, there will not be enough material...

get a new extension made to suit the non std thread, certainly wouldn't like to try retapping, or take rack back to whoever tapped it and ask
for a replacement

Hmmm... Steering Rack..... A "Mission Critical Part"
Do this RIGHT, and DO NOT BODGE it.
If you bodge it, and are involved in an accident, and its discovered, or worse still, the part that caused the accident, you wont have a leg to stand
on.
Your Insurance company could refuse to honour any claim, and you could be left with crippling bills if someone is badly injured.
Its NOT worth it. Do it correctly and fit a new part. Dont cut corners with Safety related parts.

You might, quite literally, have not a leg to stand on.
