Tamiya 1/12 Scale Models

I have never owned one, but thinking about buying one of the car i am planning on building, so i can take dimensions etc. Since they have stopped producing the one i want, i would have to buy it through ebay.

But if i did take dimensions how accurate are they to the real car. I am more interested about the chassis design, and overall body work then the suspension picks up (but these would give me a starting point to the upright i am using etc.)

I just did not know if it was going to be a waste of money or not.

I built all these a long time ago.

They are very accurate.

Not done the 1/12th but made all of the F1 1/20th models, and from what I can see they are very accurate in terms of scale.

It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

Go for it!! Generally pretty accurate in the dimensions and if nothing else it will act as motivation when you look at it to get back in the garage to build the real one.

My son works for the Canadian Tamiya distributor, I have all three kits, one Tamiya Factory built. They are very accurate!
Tamiya just introduced a MK9 Spitfire, they spent many days in Ottawa at the aircraft museum measuring and photographing the MK9 there.
Mr Tamiya is a finatic when it comes to the scale of his models.
The factory built one I have is of the Caterham Super Seven BDR.
They also did a Caterham Seven with cycle fenders and nose cone in carbon fibre, as well as the Lime Green 0 to 60 record holder.
By coincidencw my son just called, his advice, contact the UK distributor for Tamiya, the model may be temporarily out of production, but Tamiya do runs of product when there is a demand.
In the last couple of years they have re-introduced many models from the 60's and 70's.

Tell your local hobby shop, or the distributor in the UK.
