The little experience I have had (this was over a derelict house) is to find out your local land registry office (yellow pages or council) ask them to
send you a form for land ownership (you can download it from their site). Fill it in I had to give a post code (may ask for area or map reference) pay
a fee (£2 or so) and they will tell you who owns it.
Better still go on line and try their £2 search

do you mean a boundary dispute or a whole piece of land where you want to find the owner? If its your own land, just ask for a copy of your deeds.
These should have it specified in detail. I cant remember if the words override the diagram or the other way round. Speak to either your mortgage
provider (they have a vested interest in not devaluing the plot!) or a solicitor.
If its a whole plot of land, just do what mark advises. You have to be able to specify it though, not much use if its a square with no name/number, or
if its never been registered.

A friend of the family works for the Land Registry here in Weymouth. She is in Corsica at the minute but if you U2U me the specifics i can ask her
when she's back next weekend. (If you can wait that long)
