I am sure this has all been covered before but here goes. Hi Rob,

Front two outlets to the front. 1 to the rear.

Fit an inline bias valve in the rear line if you want one. Use a Fiat Uno one- cheap, ali and easy to use/mount.

As for the plunger, go to the scrappy and get one! Make sure you keep the clevis pin. I made mine from a combination of the adjustable Sierra pin one with a Nissan Micra's clevis pin mechnaism. All joined to my own pedals.

HTH,
James

I've yet to see a post that says the rear bias valve is nessecary , you need more rear brake bias if anything............

errrm - thats the complete opposite of all the wisdom i've seen. Can't think how to phrase this without it seeming confrontational, its not supposed to, do you have any evidence to back this up?

With the standard cortina brakes at the front and 8" drums at the rear on the escort m/c then you'll be ok (Based on one member putting the figures through the girling computer a few years ago).

I believe anything more brakey at the rear and you'll need to reduce the pressure. I've got 9" rear drums therefore i'm using a pressure reducer.

forgot to add, for a road going car.

Most people seem to fit the Fiat bias valve and report that they have adjusted it so it has no effect......

My car has an Escort M/cyl ,M16 calipers on the front, did have 8" rears now got 9" rears, plummed in with 2 front m/cylinder outlets going to front ,single rear outlet going to rear, on the SVA the axle weight split front to rear was very even, my rear brakes have never locked or even shown signs of it........

Thats my experience/evidence......honest

mine has no reducer anywhere, ive managed to lock one front wheel in a corner, and made them both scrabble in a straight line, but never lock fully. Back end has never locked, though it does drift kart-style into corners under hard braking thats standard cortina parts all round, to my knowledge

I too have Cortina front calipers and Escort 9" rear drums, and passed SVA without any bias gadget.

As it happens, I tested my brakes today on a quiet back road - full braking at around 50mph - the fronts locked as the car slowed, but the rears didn't.
