carb heatshields

anyone tried these - I am guessing stainless would be the better option -

only really an issue if your exhaust is directly below the carbs....you've not pulled it out of an old mini or MG have you?

I'd also argue that you want the shield as close to the exhaust and away from the carbs as possible ; air is a good insulator and a nice solid sheet above the exhaust will stop most convection.

true; that is not goinna make a lot of different, the metal will get heated by the exhaust and then conduct the heat to the carbs.

To make it more effective there should be an insulating material on the underside; that is how the MGB factory heatshields had (ok, bad english, not retyping :mad

it is a non crossflow engine for another kitcar and yes the DCOE is very close to the exhaust . I have lagging on the exhaust, but the more the better - it is rear engined so does get hot in there. Following that idea, I may get a scrap piece of alloy and over it in spare lagging tape and bolt that to the bottom of the carb as well
