modified sump

i have had my sump modified,just need to know how close to the sump does the pick up pipe have to be when modified.

Heres a quote from Graham "Corky" bell's Four Stroke Performance Tuning book...

"The height of the oil pick-up above the floor of the sump must also be adjusted. If it is closer than 1/4in the oil flow into the engine will be restricted; more than 3/8in and the engine will gulp air with G forces around 0.8. Remember when measuring to include the thickness of the sump gasket."

split the difference: I'd go for 5/16".
