sva/registering
would it be possible to pass the sva, then go into the dvla place and register it and get your plates on the same day? oh, and tax...

I suppose it depends on your DVLA. I've heard that some offices have gone to the VOSA test and inspected the car there and then done the
paperwork the same day.
However on the whole it seems that the DVLA part of the process is the bit that seems to slow things down the most as each office does things
differently.
Good luck with your attempt though.

Make contact with your local VRO where you will register, you should be able to get a home visit for inspection prior to SVA. This is the only way you
will be able to register imediatly after SVA pass, you can also get tax at the same time.

As Above - it will depend on your local DVLA office.
In Maidstone they will not entertain home visits and they only do Build Up Inspections on Tuesdays (?).
I went in with my paperwork prior to my SVA and got the ball rolling. i then arranged an appointment for the afternoon of the same day as my SVA.
Once I had the MAC I drove home from the SVA as the law allows. I happened to pass thew DVLA place on the way and stopped to check my car over . Lo
and behold a BUI was carried out and the paperwork completed. I got my reg plates on the car by about 5pm the same day
It can be done but it takes a bit of organising and gentle pushiness - I wasn';t going to be fobbed off with the standard line that the reg
plate authorisation would be in the post in a couple of days.

I had home inspection. Dropped paperwork off day after SVA but still had to wait for the reg paperwork in the post. As said already depends on the
DVLA centre and if you catch them right. Could be a bit hit and miss to be honest, i wouldnt build your hopes up on it but worth a try.

Tokk Chelmsford DVLA a few days to get there act together for me as i had to get build up inspection after SVA, another club member had the build up
inspection done before SVA and on the day of succesfull SVA pass went straight to DVLA and got the lot there and then.
Make it as easy as possible for them with a proper folder with all the documents neat and clear, they like that.
