Spigot and release bearings
Hi all, im mating a saab b204 engine to a Vaux omega RWD garbox and things are going reasonably well so far.
I'm in need of a spigot bearing at the moment 15mm id, 21mm od and am having trouble finding a oem replacement - are any of
THESE suitable or are spgot bearings different from normal roller bearings/do i need it encased in a sleeve?
Onto the release (hydraulic concentric) bearing..
I've bought the original Omega bearing, is it OK to space the whole unit towards the clutch an inch or two with an ally spacer as it sits way
too far down the shaft at the moment and nowhere near engages the clutch fingers?
Cheers

An oil-lite bush is the usual choice for custom spigot bearings --- wash the standard way it was done on pre-1970's cars.

Those bearings look near identical to the Ford-type ones so i'd guess the answer is yes.
Oh - and adding a spacer is pretty common practice for the concentric slave cylinder issue.
Long live RWD...

Cheers for that, bearing on order - spacer being made
While i'm here... Don't these spigot bearings need some form of constant lubrication, I'd imagine they get pretty damn hot spinning
at 6000rpm for long intervals yet theres no way to get oil to them without it spraying all over the clutch area??

Spigot bearings will only work as a bearing when the clutch is depressed , the rest of the time the crank and spigot shaft ( First motion shaft to
give it the correct name) will be connected by the clutch so they turn at the same speed. It's other job is to support the nose of the spigot
shaft which it does without any great loading.

A light coating of lithium (wheel bearing) grease will do fine...as rusty nuts has said, they only actually spin when you've got your foot on
the clutch - so they only get as much use as the clutch release bearing...but have no real load at all.
Long live RWD...
