Progression holes and stuff
For those running a 2.0 ltre zetec with Weber 45s, how many progression holes do you have? I know that 5 are recommended for the Zetec, whereas I
currently have 3. I spoke to BD engineering last week because I want to get the car on the rollers and I'm having a mare setting the carbs up.
Currently it will only run on huge idle jets, which I put down to a potential timing problem. It still might be, but the guy at BD immediately asked
how many progression holes I have and suggested that I get 2 more drilled\as a starting point. Alternatively he could get it on the rollers now and
make do with a re-jet.
So my questions are:
1. How much difference will two more holes make?
2. Based on that should I get them done or can the jetting realistically be made to suit 3 holes?
3. Any idea where I can get them done other than sending them to Weber?
Beyond the above my other problem could be timing. BD can look at the cam timing and jetting, but they can't do much with my ageing GEMS ECU.
Another option is to use an RR wh offer GEMS support. They is a fairly local one, although they charge twice as much an hour. I'm seriously
think about going the Megajolt route to avoid all this in the future.
Any thoughts?

Mine have five.
This is a good
Link to
explain the job. I think your reall options are
A) put up with it.
B)Sell yours and get some 152g spec ones.
C)Go bike carbs and use your ecu
D)Go injection and sell yours to help wit the costs.
I would hate to think how much it would cost to send them to webcon to get them done.

Thanks for that. It's about £50 a carb I think.
