Just been playing with the gear calculator on davids site
I managed to find the gear and diff ratios on flacmonkeys site and had a play.
1st 34mph
2nd 58
3rd 92
4th 128
5th 158
Not bad for a locost me thinks
Just need to find a way to overcome drag

158 in 5th sound good but you never achieve it.
Paul
mine should be capable of 150 in 5th but hits a wall after 130. ( on the track )
edit
change my diff to a 3.62 so that I can hit 60mph in 2nd from a standing start 6200rpm

The advantage of big cc engines is you use 3rd and 4 th gear most of the time
5th gear is only to save fuel when you realsie you have got none left and its a long way to the next watering hole.

Those calcs were with the max rpm at 6k. The limit is actually 6500. Might hit 60 in second
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!
