fridge problem, can any lcb help!!!

Hello

Im hoping that someone may be able to help. i have an Indesit fridge freezer, about 6 years old. The fridge has started to freeze everything in it. Even when I turn up the temp control, seems to make no difference. I assume its the temp control, but there probably is some thing else lurking inside that may need replacing. I need a locost solution as deffo not got the cash to buy a new one.

Thanks

Andy

Had a simillar problem with home fridge/freezer a few weeks ago. It is supposed to be a self de-icer, but obviously wans't. For a quick fix switch it off for 20minutes, with-out opening the door, then switch it back on.

For a more long term solution (ie; when you have some spare time), empty it completely and make sure it is totally defrosted.

Regards
Jon

Edited to correct my useless spelling.

P.S. how did you get on with your shower problem ?

Have you tried leaving the door slightly ajar? This should solve the freezing problem.

Thanks I will try the switch off and on trick. As for the shower Jon, had sparky come round, replaced isolator switch. Old one had loose connections causing arching and burn out. Also I fitted nogging in the lift as old switch just screwed through ceiling. All sorted, nice hot showers again!!!

Will let you know how the fridge goes!!

Had exact same thing happen to my fridge a while back. There is a thermostat somewhere, mine was on the freezer side behind the panel. Had to empty everything out of the freezer to get to it. Basically that thermostat just went bad which prevented the compressor from shutting off thus freezing EVERYTHING. Made for some really good and really cold beers, but the bread wasn't as good as you could almost chip a tooth.

Ended up being a $30 (50 GPB) part and about 15-20 mins to replace. Hope you're as lucky as we were.

I'm not scared!!! I'm just marking my territory.
