WTD: steel tube / box / etc off cuts or scrap
I'm wondering where the best place to look would be? rather than asking anyone on here really.
kind of want to try and get a load of steel stock, tube/box etc, nothing specific, but if there was any chassis tube left over etc as i'd like
to make some silly projects. don't know what yet, but little beer kart things (look them up ) something with hydraulics, or like a little
tractor gritter type thing. nothing serious, just something to keep me amused.
where's a good place to look for cheap (or free ) stuff? there's no engineering or fabrication places round here any more. well, a few,
which i will try and ask soon.
ebay is always a problem for postage, what about gumtree? anyone got anything cheap/free that can be collected easy from here/west glasgow area?
any suggestions?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Your local tip? I used to collect all sorts from there, usually actual items that could be easily cut up to provide reasonable lengths.
Sadly they have got all H+S recently, and insist everything has to be recycled. Which is soooo much better than re-using

It is hard to find any scrap metal in any quantity for free or cheap these days due to scrap prices being so high.
Some types of people are even lifting manhole covers to weigh in for scrap, even seen video of them nicking railway lines by trying to tow them away
with a 4x4, whilst still attached to the sleepers! And they wonder why the general populus dislike them when they are putting so many peoples lives at
risk just for a quick buck.

Post a 'Wanted' in your local Freecycle website.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!
