Corroded wheel repair
My brother has a tyre that keeps going flat due to corrosion on the lip. Problem being its a 21" AC schnitzer thats out of production, and is
thousands to replace all 4. Can anyone confirm that this can be repaired by one of the alloy wheel refurb places? If so, any recommendations in
leeds?
Cheers!

could possibly have it cleaned up and welded just depends on how bas the corrosion is

They usually wire brush off the bad paint, then apply a rubbery solution around the edge of the wheel where the bead sits and stick the tyre back
on.
Either that or refinish the inside of the wheel, so rub down and paint

Had a couple of wheels straightened near york http://www.ianjemison.co.uk/ a few weeks ago - he seemed to know
what he was doing and some interesting cars were there to look at too.

Simplest Knock it off the rim wire or nylon brush with angle grinder, re-lacquer then fit tyre with loads and loads of tyre fitters soap.

As Mark says above, the solution is a wire brushing of the seat and an application of bead sealer. its made for this application. Tyre soap is all
that is used normally

Rub the inside of the rim down and mastic it then put the tyre back on and inflate it before the mastic sets, worked on my scooter.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
