Maybe but I have not seen it..

Any how can't help think that this is not a substitute for a jig each joint will still have a set of errors each tube may not be 100% straight, you will still get weld distortion.. on a whole chassis the errors will add up..

You would absolutely still need to make a jig. The saving is in the cutting of potentially hundreds of mitred joints.

+1 for still needing to make a jig, but everything's already cut to the perfect length, nothing cut slightly too long or slightly too short, angles all perfect, should just need putting into the jig and tacking together.

the biggest thing that would put me off making my own chassis is cutting the tubes and getting the angles accurate and right

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Did a tour of the Ginetta factory a while back, the G40's chassis is all cnc cut, it pretty much holds together in
the jig without any tack welds......very impressive.

its not hard to do what hes doing if your tooled up with a decent cad package .

stuart taylors pheonix is laser cut tube .

and yes you could theoretically build it without a jig , it would still need a basic one tho .

the chassis tubes and plates for my roadster were all laser cut from the drawings out the book. its not uncommon these days.
